Tom Josefiak, Partner
HoltzmanVogel PLLC is pleased to announce that former RNC Chief Counsel
and FEC Chairman Tom Josefiak has joined the firm as Partner. Josefiak
will enhance the firm’s political law practice with an emphasis on
campaign finance and election law. Jill Holtzman Vogel, managing
partner, said, “Tom’s thirty years of experience with campaign finance
and election law will enable the firm to provide enhanced services to
corporate, PAC, candidate, political party and interest group clients.
Tom is truly the lion of the campaign finance bar and we are thrilled
that he will be joining HoltzmanVogel.”

Josefiak
joins HoltzmanVogel after serving as Of Counsel at the Republican
National Committee and Of Counsel to the 2008 Republican National
Convention. Josefiak previously served as the Chief Counsel of the RNC.
He was responsible for the day-to-day legal operations of the RNC
including ensuring that all activities of the RNC, its officers and
employees are in compliance with applicable federal and state election
laws. Tom served in various legal positions at the RNC from 1992 until
1995 when he became the Chief Counsel. In May of 2003, Josefiak was
asked to serve as General Counsel for Bush-Cheney ’04, where he was
responsible for all of the campaign’s legal matters. Following the 2004
election, he served as General Counsel to the 55th Presidential
Inaugural Committee. At the conclusion of the 2005 Inauguration,
Josefiak returned to the RNC as Chief Counsel.
In
1985 President Ronald Reagan appointed Josefiak to a six-year term as
Commissioner on the Federal Election Commission (FEC). He served as FEC
Chairman during the 1988 presidential election, and as Vice Chairman of
the FEC and Chairman of the Finance Committee in 1987. Prior to his
appointment as FEC Commissioner, Josefiak was Special Deputy to the
Secretary of the Senate from 1981 to 1985, representing the Secretary
as a full-time, Ex-Officio Commissioner at the FEC. As Special Counsel
to the Minority of the Committee on House Administration from 1977 to
1979, he assisted Republican members in proposing and amending election
law legislation, resulting in the passage of the 1979 amendments to the
Federal Election Campaign Act. He was Counsel to the National
Republican Congressional Committee from 1977 to 1980, and served as a
Legislative Assistant to U.S. Rep. Silvio Conte (R-Mass). Josefiak, a
native of Adams, Mass., is a graduate of Fairfield University in
Connecticut and Georgetown University Law School.
