Karen Blackistone, Associate

Karen Blackistone is an associate with HoltzmanVogel PLLC, where she provides counseling in the areas of campaign finance, election law, and tax-exempt advocacy coalitions. Karen brings with her both legislative and executive branch experience, as well as experience with national political campaigns.

Prior to joining HoltzmanVogel PLLC, Karen served on staff of the President's Council on Bioethics and as the litigation coordinator for Bush Cheney '04. In her position with the Bush campaign, Karen managed the legal teams and coordinated litigation contingency planning in each of the 21 top-tier target states.

Since joining HoltzmanVogel PLLC, Karen has served as campaign counsel to the Huckabee for President campaign and has established and counseled numerous 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) tax-exempt advocacy organizations. In addition, Karen has published multiple articles on election law and has conducted seminars on current issues in campaign finance.

Karen currently serves as principal legal advisor to a number of multi-million dollar advocacy organizations, including the largest organization of veterans committed to educating the public about the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Karen holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as an Editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy. Karen is also a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland where she majored in political science.

Karen is resident in the Virginia office and is a member of the Virginia Bar.
